Created in 1962 to celebrate the bicentenary of the House, La Grande Dame (translating as The Great Lady) is a tribute to Madame Clicquot herself. She was often referred to as “La Grande Dame de la Champagne".
Situated in the capital of Champagne, Reims, the Hôtel du Marc stands as a timeless testament to luxury and elegance. The historic mansion dates back to the 19th Century and was most notably the personal residence of the Clicquot family. Madame Clicquot herself lived here as she oversaw the champagne business of the family after her husband tragically passed away.
It was Madame Veuve Clicquot (veuve meaning widow in French) who took the wine to new heights and secured its world-renowned status. The residence has played a significant role in the history of Veuve Clicquot, hosting distinguished guests, business partners, and luminaries over the years. It has been restored to exude neo-classical elegance and charm in every room, while contemporary art and opulent touches make it truly one-of-a-kind. Due to its luxurious amenities and immaculate service, a stay at Hôtel du Marc is designed to exceed expectations.
Members will be welcomed on the afternoon of Monday September 9th for a private tour of Maison Veuve Clicquot and its cellars, which are a recognised UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Following the tour, there will be a tasting of Veuve Clicquot champagnes. On arrival at Hôtel du Marc, there will be time to refresh and savour the beauty of the house before a private dinner on the estate hosted by an ambassador of the House. Expect a complete culinary experience that reflects the essence of French gastronomy, making the most of local, seasonal ingredients, paired with Veuve Clicquot champagnes. The next morning, Members will enjoy a stunning continental breakfast prior to departure.
The Maison is immediately recognized by its most familiar wines, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, Veuve Clicquot Rosé and Veuve Clicquot Vintages. Less well known is the gem of the House, the prestige cuvée with stunning ageing potential, Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame.

A variety of individual bottles from the cellars of both Blanc and Rosé have been selected to allow Members an opportunity to taste the history of this prestige cuvée, following the achievement of Veuve Clicquot and its character throughout the years. This exceptional range is one that few have the privilege to experience – and we are proud to share with you what Veuve Clicquot Maison refers to itself as "our hidden treasures". The selection also includes some ultra-rare magnums and even a jeroboam — impressive large formats which, as they age more slowly, acquire increased complexity, resulting in a truly regal expression of Champagne.
